"Western Pennsylvania" is defined as residency in any of the following counties: Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Cambria, Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Fayette, Forest, Greene, Indiana, Jefferson, Lawrence, Mercer, Somerset, Venango, Warren, Washington, and Westmoreland.

  • Each Educational Recipient must be a resident of Western Pennsylvania who can verify residency for at least two (2) years prior to receiving a grant.
  • Selection of the scholarship recipients will be the responsibility of a Scholarship Committee comprised of two faculty members from the Department of HRIM and a representative of the Office of Financial Aid at IUP. Laura Mateer, a 1924 graduate of Indiana Normal School, has expressed a desire to establish a scholarship for students enrolled in the Department of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management.
  • Deadline for the submission of applications is May 1 for the following fall semester.Ī.
  • If the recipient does not meet the criteria for the second semester, another qualified student will be selected for the award.
  • Maintenance of the scholarship award for a second semester will be dependent on the satisfactory progress toward a degree in HRIM and the achievement of a 2.5 grade point average at the end of the first semester.
  • Must submit an application for scholarship consideration to the chairperson of the Department of HRIM, including a letter of recommendation from a high school teacher.

    Must be a graduate of any high school and be ranked in the top 25 percent of his/her graduating class and meet the admission requirements to IUP.Laura Mateer Scholarship Fund shall be awarded to talented high school graduates enrolling in the Department of Hotel, Restaurant & Institutional Management at IUP who show outstanding promise and enthusiasm for the field and have demonstrated financial need.
